An ode to writing

Christmas Eve eve

and all through the flat,

not a typewriter clacking

just a man in a hat.

The plot is a brewing

And the characters all done

The research is best

And oh so much fun

Outlining, cracked it

And final draft written

No writers block

And no nails bitten

Paper screwed up

And pens out of ink

Finally created

A plot that don’t stink

But wait there’s a typo

“How did that get there?”

Five hours editing

As I pull out my hair

“That’s it, I’m done”

As I pour out a beer

To celebrate I’ve finished

At this special time of year.

Put down my pad

And lid on my pen

Shutdown the laptop

And exit the den

And join all the family

Eating crackers and cheeses

To celebrate Christmas

And the birth of Lord Jesus

Merry Christmas everyone
